Gireogibo
2024, Korean silk, 42 x 42 cm

Gireogibo traditionally wraps a pair of wild geese made from wood, a symbol of neverending love in Korean weddings. I applied a satteugi decorative stitch and a double decorative back stitch for the decorative parts. Instead of the usual thin thread, I used a unique thick thread. I like how it turned out.

Butterfly Decoration

Butterfly Decoration made with Korean silk. One of the most simple handicraft. It can be attached to a clip or brooch.
Goebul Norigae

Goebul norigae is traditionally worn by women and children. The sharp corners of the triangle were thought to protect against disasters. I applied a satteugi decorative stitch on the sides.

Covering Bojagi

For covering things like food. I made a handle and a bat decoration, which is known to bring good fortune.
Lotus Leaf Bojagi

Covering cloth in the form of a lotus leaf. It is made with pinch stitches and is a non-patchwork bojagi. It can be used to not only cover items, but also a mat for a tea set.
Pine Nut Decoration

Traditional Korean pine nut decoration made by folding and layering small pieces of fabric. It is used traditionally for decorating the sides of pillows. The structure is simple, but its details and choosing its colors are fun.

Persimmon Leaves Pouch

Traditional Korean small pouch (jumeoni) that looks like a persimmon when closed. Also called dagibo because it is used to wrap tea utensils. I made flower decorations at the ends of the strings.

Using western fabrics and lace, I made a persimmon leaves pouch.
Durujumeoni

I made various designs of durujumeoni (round pouch: named after its shape), one of the bokjumeoni (lucky pouch). It has been used to carry small items such as coins because traditional Korean clothing does not have pockets. It has also been used at Lunar New Year or Korean Thanksgiving as present bags.

I made a bigger durujumeoni (round pouch: named after its shape) with Korean silk in light tone colours. There are various methods for the details, but I tried and tested how to create a pretty round shape. It's perfect for organizing small items in my daily life.
